Litchfield School District South Central IL
Workforce & Training Center

NARRATIVE
Litchfield School District partnered with 8 other surrounding communities to create a shared educational building, focused on creating job ready students for trade programs. High school students can choose to take courses in Construction, Welding, Machines, or Automotive. An existing warehouse building was transformed to create educational spaces that would support the programs. Each trade program offers shop space, classroom space and storage. In addition, the building also has a large student gather area, administrative offices and a large space for future growth. The district also partnered with local and surrounding businesses and received grant funding through the state of Illinois.
The interior design concept was not taken from school colors, but rather focused on an upscale industrial look. Environmental graphics were integrated into the main student gathering areas, to help promote student pride. Fully coordinated furniture completes the space.
