City of St. Peters - RecPlex Renovations



NARRATIVE
The City of St. Peters desired to update the look of their facility while solving for a few wayfinding and programmatic needs. They wanted to focus their funds on the building's entry, lobby and adjacent dining area. In the lobby, two existing desks were consolidated into one more efficient area. The desk was equipeed with a variety of custom storage, to house specific items and equipment. The new desk also served to anchor the space and provided easy wayfinding. It's location addressed the client's current struggles with access control. The extra space, aquaired by the desk consolidation, was used create seating areas and a laptop bar with power. The new design also featured acoustical baffles and wall panels to address the excessive noise in the space. The adjacent dining area received some reconfiguring as well. Two rentable party rooms and a teen gaming room were added to the north end of the space, allowing the facility to offer the rooms as a member benefit. A large L-shape laptop bar with power outlets was added at the south end, for guests to utilize during swim meets or for members whose children may be taking a class.
The spaces also received update interior finishes including new porcelain tile floors, lighting, ceiling tiles and paint. The lobby design included warm, wood look porcelain tile floors, paired with multiple shades of blue, pulled from the facility's logo. Navy accents were added to provide a more upscale, sophisticated look. The client also desired a strong emphasis on branding. A large wall graphic, wrapping two of the main lobby walls was designed to showcase the unique, large number of activities the facility can offer to its members and showcase the client logo. The Dining area recieved large format 4' x 4' porcelain tile, modernizing the look and addressing the scale of the space. It received updated navy paint to coordinate with the new palette. Lastly, to complete the look, new storefront doors were installed throughout the lobby and dining areas.
